What is Google Alternatives?
Privacy-respecting replacements for Google products — including search, email, maps, cloud storage, browsers, and more — that don't track your activity or build advertising profiles.
Also known as: De-Google Alternatives, Privacy Alternatives to Google, Google Replacements
Google is the largest data collection operation in history. Replacing Google services is one of the highest-impact privacy improvements you can make.
Why Replace Google
- Google tracks you across 90%+ of websites via Google Analytics, Ads, Fonts, reCAPTCHA
- Gmail scans emails for ad targeting and AI training
- Chrome sends browsing data to Google (even in "incognito" mode)
- Google Search builds a profile from every query you make
- Google Maps tracks your location history continuously
- Android phones send location data to Google ~340 times per day
- YouTube builds detailed interest profiles from viewing habits

Migration Strategy
Don't try to replace everything at once. Priority order:
- Search engine — Easiest switch, biggest daily impact
- Browser — Stop feeding Chrome data to Google
- Email — Hardest switch (changing email addresses), biggest long-term impact
- Phone — GrapheneOS or CalyxOS for de-Googled Android
- Cloud storage — Migrate files to encrypted alternatives
- Everything else — Maps, calendar, docs, translate
The Hard Truth
Complete de-Googling is difficult because Google's infrastructure is embedded in the web (analytics, fonts, CDNs, reCAPTCHA). But replacing the products you use directly eliminates the majority of data Google collects about you personally.
