What is De-Googled Phone?

A smartphone running an Android-based operating system with Google services removed, offering app compatibility while eliminating Google's pervasive data collection.

A de-Googled phone runs Android without Google's surveillance layer — no Google Play Services, no Google account required, no data sent to Google.

Options

  • GrapheneOS: Hardest security, Pixel phones only. Optional sandboxed Google Play.
  • CalyxOS: Easier to use, includes microG for compatibility. Pixel + some others.
  • LineageOS: Widest device support, fewer privacy features.
  • /e/OS (Murena): Focus on ease of use, sold pre-installed on phones.
  • DivestOS: De-Googled LineageOS with additional privacy patches.

What You Lose

  • Some apps require Google Play Services (banking, rideshare)
  • Push notifications may not work for all apps
  • Google Maps (use Organic Maps instead)
  • Google Pay/NFC payments (use cash or card)

What You Gain

  • No location tracking by Google
  • No advertising ID
  • No search/browsing data collection
  • No voice assistant recordings
  • Per-app network permission control
  • Dramatically reduced attack surface

Where to Buy

  • Murena: Sells phones with /e/OS pre-installed
  • Nitrokey: Sells Pixels with GrapheneOS
  • DIY: Buy a Pixel, flash GrapheneOS yourself (free, well-documented)
