Diaspora

The diaspora* Project is built on three key philosophies: Decentralization, Freedom, and Privacy. With diaspora*, users can choose which server to register with and connect with the global community. The platform offers features such as Aspects, which allow users to organize contacts according to their role in life, and hashtags, which enable easy labeling and following of interests. Users can also reshare posts, @mention others, and show appreciation for content with a heart symbol. diaspora* supports cross-posting to other major social services, including Twitter, Tumblr, and WordPress. The platform is Free Software, giving users liberty over how they use it. To get started, users can choose a pod, sign up, and join the conversation by following #tags related to their interests. diaspora* is a vibrant community that needs contributors to write and test code, welcome new members, and spread the word about its benefits.
